The Propagandas We’re Not Falling For — ReviewIt Edition

The Propagandas We’re Not Falling For — ReviewIt Edition

Hi there, foodies and explorers!

At ReviewIt, our job is to check out the hottest spots in Lagos. But lately, we’ve noticed a trend, and not the good kind. Let’s just say some establishments have been serving us more fiction than jollof.

So, in the spirit of transparency (and fun), here are a few “propagandas” we’re officially NOT falling for:

“We use only organic ingredients”

But somehow, your grilled chicken tastes like it came from a sachet of seasoning and vibes.

“We’re redefining luxury”

By “luxury,” do you mean plastic chairs with gold spray paint and a DJ who starts soundcheck mid-meal?

“It’s a premium experience”

Translation: You pay ₦16,000 for spaghetti and still have to beg for tissue in the restroom.

“Instagram-worthy interiors”

One neon sign that says “Good vibes only” does not make a vibe. We want aesthetics, not LED stress.

“Best shisha in Lagos”

Why does it smell like someone burned dried pepper under the table?

“Live music every weekend”

If the speaker is struggling, the mic is cracking, and the band only plays covers of covers, we have questions.

“Healthy options available”

Ma’am, deep-frying lettuce and calling it ‘fit-fam fusion’ is not wellness.

“Our customer service is top-tier”

Until you ask for a menu and they ghost you like a bad Tinder date.

At ReviewIt, we’re not here to drag, we’re here to tell the truth with love (and a little pepper). We believe Lagos has some of the BEST places in Africa, and we’ll always celebrate the real gems.

But we won’t lie for clout. If it’s great, we’ll scream it. If it’s not, we’ll whisper… then blog it.

Catch us on the streets, menus in hand, ready to review (not pretend).

With love,

Team ReviewIt
