The Afrobeat Lagos Review: Afrobeats, But Make It Food

If you’ve ever wished that your Jollof could drop adlibs or your soup could do Shoki, congratulations, your dreams have come true.

The Afrobeat Lagos is officially the first Afrobeats-themed restaurant in the world, and of all the places it could have been, guess where it landed? Right here in Lagos.

God really gives his favourites special treatment!

Located inside EbonyLife Place, Afrobeat Lagos is all about celebrating our culture: through food, music, décor, and constant reminders that Afrobeats runs the world.

The vibe? Soft lighting. Warm colours. Screens on every table playing nonstop Afrobeats hits. In short: your eyes, ears, and stomach will all be shouting “God, when?” at the same time.

The Food at Afrobeat Lagos: Nigerian, African & Proudly Rebranded

The menu isn’t here to play. It’s Nigerian, African and diaspora-coded. It’s giving “my ancestors are proud.” Here’s a taste of the damage:

  • Spicy Jerk Pork Samosa – ₦8,500
  • Seafood Coconut Soup – ₦12,000
  • Tagliatelle Ayamase – ₦15,500 (yes, Ayamase but academically refined)
  • Grilled Uziza & Crusted Prawns with Adalu – ₦18,000
  • Sticky Date Pudding – ₦15,000

They even serve Kilishi & Garri like it’s fine dining. and honestly? It is.

Every dish feels like a cultural love letter. You’re eating the continent’s greatest hits, plated like premium Spotify content.

The Vibes At Afrobeat Lagos

Here, Afrobeats is not background noise. It’s the entire blueprint.

Every table comes with its own screen, so whether you’re a Wizkid FC senior advocate or a Burna Boy anthropologist, you’ll find something to vibe to.

The whole space is decorated with:

  • Afrobeats memorabilia
  • Warm earthy tones
  • A serpentine sofa that looks like it’s ready for group gist
  • Booths that feel like safe spaces for soft life

It’s restaurant meets museum meets concert, and somehow, it works flawlessly.

Drinks for People Who Like Enjoyment

The Afrobeat Lagos bar clearly said, “Let’s not embarrass ourselves.”

Expect cocktails like:

  • Tropical Oasis – ₦15,000
  • Amerigo — whiskey, apple, chocolate bitters
  • Afro Root Beer — proudly African and not pretending otherwise

Basically, everything is curated to taste like confidence.

What We Loved Most

  • The ambiance is premium but warm
  • The Afrobeats theme is actually intentional (not vibes and cruise)
  • The menu honours Nigerian food without fear or confusion
  • The space works for birthdays, dates, group hangouts, and showing off
